Twin City Die Castings
Monticello, Minnesota
Die Casting Facility
Architect: Truman Howell Architects & Assoc., Inc.
The Challenge: To create the safest, most modern magnesium and
aluminum die cast facility in the world. Twin City Die Castings wanted a look
that surpassed other facilities while on a tight budget with very specific technical
requirements. The immediate challenge was to start the project quickly, under
difficult weather conditions, to meet financing requirements, and to protect
TCDC's initial investment in their new building.
The Olson Solution: Twin City Die Castings chose Olson General
Contractors based on a referral from a former Olson client. Following the design/build
philosophy, Olson worked closely with the owner, putting the project on a fast
track construction process, meeting the tight financial deadlines. The 30,000
square foot plant is furnished with five state-of-the-art Buhler die cast machines,
ABB robots and Rauch Magnesium Dosing Furnaces, establishing a landmark in high
quality casting. Few facilities in the world can match the ability this structure
possesses. The TCDC property set the standard in Monticello for future buildings
of this type.
